Cricket's three formats and favourite competitions

In Bangladesh, cricket is more than a game — it is a passion. At tekka buzz you can deepen that passion through betting, always with a spirit of entertainment and responsibility.

T20

The fastest and most intense format. Every over can take a dramatic turn. Betting on this format is most popular in BPL, IPL and the ICC T20 World Cup. Odds shift with every wicket and boundary.

ODI

A fifty-over match calls for both strategy and patience. The flow of play changes from powerplay to death overs, and the range of betting markets is broad to match.

Test

In a five-day match a draw is possible, so the betting markets are different. Options such as innings-based markets, series winner, or top wicket-taker are available.

BPL, IPL and International Cricket

BPL brings the excitement of home-ground cricket in Bangladesh, while IPL is India's franchise tournament — both hold a special place with fans here. Betting interest also runs throughout the year for the ICC T20 World Cup and the Bangladesh national team (Tigers) series.

The number of available markets and the odds vary by competition. Major tournaments generally offer more markets, allowing bets on many aspects of a single match.

Alongside cricket, you can also bet on football, tennis and other sports at tekka buzz. Football betting differs somewhat from cricket — because a draw is a valid result, most matches have three possible outcomes, whereas in limited-overs cricket (T20, ODI) one of the two teams must win.

Popular betting markets — how to bet on each

A cricket match offers many types of markets. Below is a brief description of seven popular markets.

Most popular

Match Winner

Bet on which of the two teams will win. In limited-overs cricket there is no draw, so you simply pick team A or team B.

Pre-match

Toss Winner

You can bet on which team will win the toss before the match begins. A small but fun market.

Batting

Top Batsman

Bet on which batsman in a given team will score the most runs in a specific innings or across the whole match — generally among the batsmen within that team.

Runs

Total Runs Over / Under

Bet on whether the total runs scored in an innings or across the match will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. For example: if the line is set at 160.5 runs in an innings, over means 161 or more.

Multiple bets

Multi Bet

Combine multiple selections from multiple matches into a single bet. All selections must be correct to win. The odds multiply to become much higher, but the risk also increases.

Wickets

Top Wicket-Taker

Bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in the match. This market is more commonly available in Test and ODI formats.

Powerplay

First Powerplay Runs

Bet on how many runs will be scored in the first six overs. Available both before the match and in-play. The openers' form is worth considering.

How to read odds — three formats explained simply

Many people find the numbers on a betting site confusing at first. Odds are written in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. tekka buzz generally uses the decimal format, but understanding the difference makes betting easier.

Example 1 — the same odds in three formats (team A to win, bet ৳500):

Decimal 2.50 = Fractional 3/2 = American +150

If team A wins, the return is ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + original ৳500); if they lose, ৳500 is gone.

Example 2 — favourite's odds (team B to win, bet ৳500):

Decimal 1.80 = Fractional 4/5 = American -125

American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. If team B wins, the return is ৳900 (৳400 profit).

Decimal odds are the easiest to read — multiply the number by your stake to get the total return. Odds cannot go below 1.00; the higher the number, the greater the potential return, but the lower the chance of winning.

Live In-Play Betting — how odds change during a match

Live

You can place bets even after the match has started — this is called in-play betting. In cricket it is especially engaging because odds are recalculated after every wicket, every boundary, and every dot ball.

Say team A is batting and has lost three wickets in the first five overs — at that moment the odds for team B to win will shorten sharply and the odds for team A will lengthen. Conversely, if team A scores 70 runs in the first 6 overs, team A's odds will shorten.

Run rate per over, wickets remaining, and balls remaining are the three factors that influence live odds the most. Current net run rate and the ongoing partnership form also play an important role.

Decisions in in-play markets need to be made quickly, as odds can change at any moment. Markets sometimes close temporarily — for example, while the situation is reassessed after a wicket falls.

Betting on Football and Other Sports — where the differences lie

Beyond cricket, you can also bet on football, tennis, badminton and other sports. However, because the rules and result structures of each sport differ, the markets differ too.

In football a match can end in a draw, so the standard match winner market has three options: team A wins, team B wins, or draw. In this three-way market, the favourite's odds are generally structured differently from cricket.

In limited-overs cricket (T20, ODI) one of the two teams must win (via a super over or directly), so the match winner market is two-way. In Test cricket a draw is possible, giving three options.

In sports like tennis, badminton or table tennis, set-based or game-based markets are available that work similarly to cricket's over-based or wicket-based markets.

Alongside betting at tekka buzz, you can also play casino games or slots. The tekka buzz slots section has hundreds of slot games from PG Soft, JILI, Pragmatic Play and more, which you can enjoy alongside betting.

Sports and market differences

T20/ODI Cricket: two-way market
Test Cricket: three-way (draw possible)
Football: three-way (draw possible)
Tennis: two-way, set-based

Useful tips for cricket betting

01

Set a budget first

Betting is a form of entertainment. Before each session, decide how much you are willing to bet and stick to it. Reading the responsible gaming guidelines will give you a clearer picture on this.

02

Understand one market well

Start with just the match winner market. Betting across many markets without understanding them well can lead to confusion.

03

Quick decisions in live betting

Odds move fast in in-play betting. Watch the match closely and have a rough idea beforehand of which market you would bet on in a given situation.

04

Be careful with multi bets

In a multi bet, if all selections are correct the multiplied odds can bring a large return — but if even one loses, everything is lost. For beginners, it is better not to combine more than two or three selections.

05

Keep a betting record

Tracking which markets you bet on, how much, and what the results were gives you a clear picture of your own betting patterns.

Cricket Betting FAQs

In T20, a match lasts only twenty overs, so results shift quickly and live odds move more. In ODI, with fifty overs to play, there is more time to recover, so odds change more gradually. For markets, T20 offers more powerplay and death-over-based options, while ODI may also have separate markets for the middle overs.

At tekka buzz you can generally combine two or more selections in a multi bet. The more selections you add, the higher the combined odds — but all selections must be correct to win. For example: selecting three separate matches at odds of 1.60, 1.70 and 1.80 gives combined odds of 1.60 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.90 (approximately), so a ৳100 bet returns ৳490 — but all three selections must win.

Live markets may temporarily close right after a wicket falls or during significant events such as a no-ball or review. This is normal — after reassessing the situation, the market reopens with updated odds. Markets may also pause briefly just before and after the last ball of an over.

If a match is completely abandoned or the result is declared void under applicable rules, the bet amount is generally refunded. For a partial match the rules may differ — if a result is reached via the DLS method after a set number of overs, bets normally stand. See the terms and conditions for details.

As major tournaments, BPL and IPL generally have more markets available. Match winner, toss winner, top batsman, top wicket-taker, total runs over/under, powerplay runs, and innings total are typically on offer. Live markets are also active during matches.
